Arabic comic publisher Manga Arabia has announced a strategic partnership with Gramedia to expand the reach of Arabic comics in the Indonesian market. The announcement was made through Manga Arabia’s official X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts on 14 May 2026.

Manga Arabia stated that this collaboration aims to strengthen the presence of Arabic comics in Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia’s largest book markets, while supporting the growth of Arabic creative content and helping regional talents reach a wider global audience.

Manga Arabia is a subsidiary of the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG), launched in August 2021. The company publishes original Arabic comics as well as localised Arabic editions of Japanese manga titles such as Blue Lock and A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi), both physically and digitally, through their mobile app.

Gramedia, legally operated under PT Gramedia Media Asri, is Indonesia’s largest publisher and operates the country’s largest bookstore network. It is a part of Kompas Gramedia Group, one of Indonesia’s largest media conglomerates. Kompas Gramedia also owns the two largest manga publishers in Indonesia, Elex Media Komputindo and m&c!.

Since 2024, Gramedia have also established a joint venture with Japanese media group Kadokawa to distribute anime, comics, and games (ACG) products in Indonesia. As part of this collaboration, Gramedia and Kadokawa have established Phoenix Gramedia Indonesia, Gramedia’s publishing imprint which focuses on publishing Light Novels and Manga.

PT refers to “Perseroan Terbatas”, an Indonesian legal entity type similar to the American LLC.
