The highly anticipated Japanese pop culture festival, Merah! Merah! Anime Japan!! (MMAJ) Jakarta 2026, will officially open its doors this weekend on the 30th and 31st of May 2026 at Gandaria City, South Jakarta. Making its first-ever appearance in Indonesia, MMAJ Jakarta promises an international-scale anime and cultural experience, seamlessly blending spectacular entertainment, community engagement, and cross-border creative collaborations.

Over the two-day event, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will present a diverse programme, ranging from anisong concerts and anime film screenings to interactive workshops and meet-and-greet sessions.

This year’s festival places a massive spotlight on its musical acts, featuring exclusive performances by two of Japan’s most beloved acts:

  • Yoko Ishida A true legend in the anisong (anime song) industry, Yoko Ishida debuted in 1993 with the iconic hit “Otome no Policy,” the ending theme for Sailor Moon R. Over her illustrious, decades-long career, her captivating and uplifting vocals have become synonymous with global anime hits, including the theme songs for Strike Witches, Pretear, and Ai Yori Aoshi. Her performance at MMAJ Jakarta guarantees a nostalgic and exhilarating journey for long-time anime enthusiasts.

  • Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku (Ebichu) Formed by Stardust Promotion, this vibrant and wildly popular idol group affectionately dubs themselves the “King of School Plays” (King of Gakugeikai). Known for their chaotic, high-energy, and deeply endearing stage performances, Ebichu has provided hit theme songs for major franchises like Naruto Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals and Pokémon. Their dynamic presence is set to electrify the Gandaria City stage and deliver an unforgettable experience for Indonesian fans.

Joining these headliners is a spectacular roster of Japanese talents and personalities, including Shiena Nishizawa, Daruma Rollin, BANBANBAN Sameshima, Hayataku, and Otoha.
