On Sunday (1/2), Indonesian game studio Pixzel Studio released the teaser trailer of KONON: The Ritual. Published by Mintsphere, the game is a story-driven psychological horror game set in Tenggarong, East Kalimantan.
KONON: The Ritual tells the story of Andini, a young woman trapped within dark memories and an unfinished ancient ritual. The narrative unfolds gradually as the story progresses, with story elements that are rooted in Indonesian folklore.
One of the game’s defining features is its “sixth sense” mechanic. This ability allows players to see the unseen clues. With this ability, the player must help Andini escape by stopping the ancient ritual that haunts her.
Visually, KONON: The Ritual adopts a minimalist 2D pixel art paired with a soundtrack reminiscent of 1980s horror films. The pixel art is drawn by Indonesian DJ and pixel artist Luthfi Naufal (PixzelBeast), while the music is composed by Aprido Perdana.
Founded in late 2019, Pixzel Studio is an indie game studio based in Samarinda, East Borneo. KONON: The Ritual began as Luthfi’s final academic project titled ANGKER before evolving into a full-fledged game. Wishlist the game now on Steam
